Hello! My name is Joleen and I am a Board Certified Naturopathic Doctor through the American Natural Wellness Practitioners Board.
My interest in natural health began in 2009 when my husband was sick with a “mystery illness” that numerous medical doctors were unable to diagnose or treat. We saw six different doctors in three different states trying to find an answer. He was not able to eat and was getting sicker and sicker. We were scared, felt very alone, and felt like nobody would consider our questions as being valid. We felt like we lived in a bubble with no air and no sunshine.
One day, a friend gifted us with an appointment to see an herbalist/nutritionist. We had never heard of an herbalist before, but we were desperate for help and were willing to try anything. At the time of our visit, this practitioner said that my husband was the sickest person she had ever seen. Even still, she was the first person to give us HOPE that he could get better. It took a year of nutritional changes and herbal support, but he fully recovered. He continues to focus daily on eating healthy, getting regular exercise, and continuing daily supplementation to maintain his health, free of medications.
I began my natural health training at Trinity School of Natural Health, where I became a Certified Natural Health Professional and a Certified Holistic Health Practitioner. During that time, I mentored under a practitioner to get hands-on training with real-world clients. I have since furthered my education by becoming a certified Digestive Health Professional through the Food Enzyme Institute and a SHAPE ReClaimed Consultant/Practitioner. I focus my care on detoxification, gut health, emotional health, and overall wellness through nutritional recommendations, lifestyle modifications, homeopathics, Bach flowers, and whole-food vitamin, mineral, herb, and enzyme supplementation to bring the body back into balance.
Prior to helping holistic clients, I obtained two management degrees from the IU Kelley School of Business and raised my two precious children, whom I homeschooled from kindergarten through high school, which is one of my greatest joys and accomplishments. I have an insatiable thirst for knowledge, and in my free time I enjoy reading and learning anything pertaining to natural health.
